Birthday Party Magic Show & Dance Party!
This highly engaging & interactive program includes 3 parts:
1. The Magic Show
The magic show was specifically designed to keep kids ages 5-7 entertained, engaged, amazed & laughing out loud!
I use lots of audience participation, because kids don’t want to sit & watch the show, they want to be a part of the show!
Of course, the birthday child will get to help make some magic too! In fact, the birthday child will become the star of the show. They will help out at the beginning & the end!
The kids will go bonkers when they see my sidekick 'Timmy the Toilet Paper', which ends up with 100 feet of paper streamers appearing from my mouth!
For the finale of the magic show, the birthday child might even make my sock disappear (But shhh, don't spoil the secret!) with he help of my GIANT 6 FOOT MAGIC WAND!!

2. Teach-A-Trick
After the magic show, I teach the kids how to do a simply magic trick (mini magic lesson). This takes 5 minutes & all of the kids get to keep the magic trick! That's right...
Every kid receives a FREE magic trick to take home after the party!
3. Dance Party
Kids love music & they love to dance! I'll tire them out a bit with a fun dance party & they may even learn a few new cool dance moves! The dance party is approximately 10 minutes.
+ After we're all done, I'll organize the kids in front of the backdrop for a special photo opportunity!
Start to finish, I'll keep the kids completely entertained, engaged & having fun for a FULL 1 HOUR!

Interactive Dance Party
Kids love music & they love to dance! I'll tire them out a bit with a fun dance party & they may even learn a few new cool dance moves! Okay, the kids will probably teach me a few new dance moves! I'll play popular songs & I may even take few requests! Freeze Dance - Absolutely!
Mini Magic lesson with free magic trick
I teach the kids how to do a simply magic trick (mini magic lesson). This takes 5 minutes & all of the kids get to keep the magic trick! The kids will be so excited to show their parents the magic trick when they come to pick them up at the end of the party!
Group Photo
After the magic show, I'll organize all of the party guests in front of my backdrop, so that you can take a group photo!

Frequently Asked Questions
How much space do you need?
Not much at all!
My full set-up (backdrop with both side banners) is 12 feet wide & 8 feet tall.
If space is limited, I set-up just the backdrop (8 feet wide) or I can just use the "Happy Birthday" side banner (3 feet wide x 8 feet tall).
I like to have a 2-3 feet (backstage area) & about 4-5 feet in front of me (performing area). It's best to have the children sitting on the floor.
I have never been in a place where I couldn’t perform due to space constraints. I’m very flexible and easy to work with!
Do you perform at out-of-home parties?
Yes. However; the best parties I have ever performed at, have always been hosted inside the customer's home.
It's really easy to host an in-home party when you follow my 'Perfect Birthday Party Blueprint'; making the party 2 - 2 1/2 hours, inviting no more than 20 kids & making it a 'Drop off party'. (And yes it's totally okay & recommended to have a drop off party for kids ages 5+)

Can you perform outside?
I want to give you the best show possible, so my show must be performed indoors.
You can have the party outside & then invite the guests inside to watch the show.
How long do you need to set-up & pack up?
I only need 20 minutes to set-up & 20 minutes to pack up. I've got this down to a science!
Do you perform outside of Calgary?
Yes! In addition to performing in Calgary, Alberta, I also offer my birthday party magic shows in Airdrie, Chestermere & Cochrane with no additional travel fees.
Unfortunately, I don't offer my birthday party magic shows outside of those areas.
Is my child too young?
This is a tricky one..
While I regularly perform in front of younger audiences (ages 3-5) at preschools & daycares, the dynamic changes when you take those younger children out of the classroom setting & put them into a party setting in your home.
I know parents can get really excited to host their child's birthday party, especially if it's their first real party.
However; a magic party may not be the best party idea if your child is only turning 5.
If your child is only turning 5 (even if they really love magic & may have even seen me before), it means some of their friends may only be 4 years old, which is a bit too young.
Younger children (4 years or younger) have very short attention spans & don't completely understand what magic is.
The best age for the birthday child is 6 or 7, since most of their friends will be 5-7 years of age. (The perfect age to believe in magic!)
I honestly feel that every child should have a 'Magic' themed birthday party, once in their birthday party career.
I promise it will be worth the wait, to have me help you make the 'Magic' themed party the party your child remembers forever!
Should I book the show or the workshop?
The magic show is best for children ages 5-7.
The magic workshop is best for children ages 8-11.
While the magic show is super fun & full of amazing magic, it's also really silly! Older kids (8+) will watch the show trying to figure out how the tricks are done - Instead of just enjoying the show like the younger kids do.
That's why I created the Interactive Magic Workshop.
The magic workshop perfectly engages the older kids by showing them how to do their own tricks.
All of the kids must be 7 years or older (The majority of the children must be 8+) to participate in the magic workshop.
If the birthday child is turning 8 & is one of the youngest of all their friends, then book the magic workshop.
If the birthday child is turning 8 & is one of the oldest of all their friends (Just a few 8 year olds, but mostly 7 year olds), then book the magic show.
Can we celebrate more than 1 child's bday?
You sure can! It's just twice as much fun! Both birthday children will receive a magic wand, top hat & the free haircut certificate. The birthday children will get to share the autographed 'Magic Poster' that appears in the magic show!
There are no extra charges for multiple birthday children.
Do we need to provide you with anything?
Nope! My show is completely self contained, this way you can just enjoy the party yourself! I bring a pop-up backdrop, my own table, a small battery powered speaker with a wireless microphone & of course all my props & supplies.
How many guests can we invite?
For the magic show you, can invite as many guests as you like! However; I don't recommend inviting more than 20 kids.
For the magic workshop, you can have a maximum of 15 children (including the birthday child). This is due to the hands on nature of the program.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes. To secure your preferred party date & time, a $100 non-refundable booking deposit is required.
What methods of payment do you accept?
The deposit must be paid with a credit card. The balance can be paid with cash, Interac e-Transfer, Debit, Visa or MasterCard.
What's your cancellation policy?
Since I may turn away other potential customers while holding your event date & time, cancellations for any reason will forfeit the deposit.
However; you may reschedule your party one time for a new date that occurs within 365 days of the original booked party date, without any penalty & the deposit will be applied to the new booking.
Rescheduled parties may only be booked for a Tuesday - Thursday (anytime) or a Sunday (5:30 p.m. or later).
Do you use animals in your show?
No! I love animals & that's why I choose not to use animals in my show. In order to make a dove or a rabbit 'appear', you need to hide them in small places. It's really not fair to the animal. Also the loud noises from the children can really scare a rabbit!
Instead, I use a super funny 'Raccoon' puppet that looks real & the kids think he's super funny! And I also bring 'Timmy the Toilet Paper' who's always a crowd favourite!
Do you make balloon animals?
I'm sorry, I don't offer balloon twisting.
Here's why...
1. This won't keep the kids entertained! Balloon twisting is considered a 'line-up' activity. The children 'wait' in line for their balloon (it's not fun waiting in line) & once a child has received their balloon, it's up to you to entertain them after.
2. Balloons pop, usually even before the party is over. This leaves many kids upset/disappointed.
3. You can't make a bunch of kids awesome balloons in only 15-20 minutes. This is what the magicians that do offer balloon twisting don't tell you. Usually, all the kids end up getting are simple balloons like swords (Oh no!), dogs or hats, which are underwhelming.
Instead of twisting balloons, (in my magic show package) I do 2 super interactive group activities...
1st is the mini magic class where I teach all the kids how to do one magic trick & I give all the kids the magic trick to take home (This is cooler than a balloon animal) & then the...
2nd is the dance party where I lead all of the kids into dancing & dance games! Kids love music & they love to dance. You will be surprised at some of the dance move the kids bust out!!
If you really wanted to go all out with this party, you could hire a glitter tattoo artist (better than face painting because it's faster & it stays on way longer) to start right at the every beginning of the party - before the magic show. But this really isn't needed if you have the kids do simple crafts for the first 30 minutes of the party.
Do you have a cancellation list?
I'm sorry, I don't have a cancellation list.
Since my customers pay a deposit to book me, I rarely get any cancellations.
The very rare cancellations that due happen are last minute due to the birthday child being sick etc. & this wouldn't give you enough time to plan for your entertainment.
If you must have your party on a certain date/time that I am not available for, I would be more than happy to recommend another performer. You can email chris@christophercool.com & ask for a referral for your party.
